Horseshoe Reef

About a mile northeast of the Lake Worth Pier is a 40 to 60 foot depth reef which is an ideal dive. It is a curved reef which forms a horseshoe curve (thus the name) around a sandy area which features a 8 to 10 foot high ledge adorned with all types of sponges and soft corals.

Turtles seem to be abundant on this particular reef, perhaps because the ledge offers good protection for a nap. You will often see hawksbills and loggerheads, particularly during the summer months. Remember turtles are protected by Federal law and should not be touched. Attempting to grab or irde one can result in a stiff penalty.
