Princess Britany A one-time drug-smuggling ship has become one of South Florida's newer artificial reefs in the year 2003. U.S. Customs seized the 165-foot freighter, Princess Britney, during Operation River Walk in 2002 when when more than 70 kilograms of cocaine were found hidden inside underneath the deck of the engine room. The expected value of these drugs was $1.3 million. The Princess Britney was sunk approximately 3.5 miles off the coast of Key Biscayne, Florida one year later. The ship came to rest on a sandy bottom about 90 feet below the surface. |
