Miami Area Dive Sites The Dive Charter Operator I recommend to dive these wreck sites is: RJ Diving Ventures |
Emerald Reef can be found in 15 to 20 feet of water along the middle reef line just 1 mile east of Key Biscayne, Florida. It is a relatively small patch reef which is part of a clearly delineated coral system representative of those found further to the south, in the Florida Keys. It is considered by many to be one of the prettiest reefs in the Miami area. This reef supports a healthy growth of hard corals such as elkhorn and pillar coral. Sea fans have attached themselves to sizable coral heads along the reef and you may find delicately decorated flamingo tongues clinging to the fans. One feature that makes this reef so breathtaking is the clarity of the shallow water which enables divers to experience the full vibrancy of the colors of the variety of sponges, living corals and multihued tropical fish that dominate the seascape. |
