Orange Reef

Orange Reef is also know as Howard Johnson Reef (Ho Jo Reef) as it is directly offshore from the bright orange roof of the Howard Johnson's Motel located between Carolina and Taft Streets. This reef is 3 miles north of Port Everglades.

Depths here range from 20 to 30 feet making this an excellent second dive after one of the deeper wrecks located in the area, like the Mercedes.

The reef features 10 feet of relief and is over 50 feet long. There are some sand valleys amongst the reef "fingers" which run east and west toward the sea. Look closely as you will find a great deal of interesting marine life, including some elkhorn and staghorn corals.
