Ft. Lauderdale Area Dive Sites - Broward County Palm Beach Ft. Lauderdale Miami-Dade Florida Keys |
This patch reef is a beautiful area located approximately 3 and one-half miles north of Port Everglades at the north end of the Hugh Taylor Birch State Recreation Area. This is an excellent area for novice divers and snorkelers because it is so shallow and there is so much to see. The area is about 100 yards in diameter with depths ranging from 15 to 20 feet, just inside the second reef line. Amazingly enough, there are several varieties of hard corals growing on the lime substrate bottom, one of which is pillar coral. This is also a good area to see turtles. An easy night dive in a pretty area with prolific marine life. |
