Ft. Lauderdale Area Dive Sites - Broward County Palm Beach Ft. Lauderdale Miami-Dade Florida Keys |
John Lloyd Reefs is a beach dive. You need to swim straight off the beach until you are even with the end of the Dania pier, which will be just to your south. This is a beautiful reef section of the first reef, closest to shore. It has a relief of about 4-5 feet off the sand bottom which is in about 20 feet of water. There are lots of sponges and gorgonians and soft corals along the top of the small ledge which runs north and south following the coastline. You can easily follow this ledge to the north and then back to the south to end your dive where you started. You will come across a rocky area which is a good to hunt for lobster. John Lloyd Park is easily found by taking Sheridan Street east all the way to A1A and then turning left to head north to the Park entrance. If you park in the very first parking lot you will be able to follow the ramp across the dunes right to the beach entrance. This park offers 2 miles of beachfront. |
